T4YP Emergence 2020: Love and Loss
Witness the debut of klpac’s iconic Theatre for Young People (T4YP) alumni in a new experimental platform — T4YP Emergence 2020 — an initiative to encourage members to engage as better creators and find their own voice in the performing arts. Featuring 26 artists under the guidance of Mark Beau de Silva and Ho Lee Ching, the alumni of T4YP will be performing eight short pieces in which they explore notions of love and loss, both integral to one another. Join this diverse cast as they journey through moments of vulnerability, grief, intimacy, memory and self-discovery in a range of exciting performances.

James Seet — Wobbly Sabi
In his second solo exhibition, James Seet moves away from the tradition and commercialisation of perfecting art. Inspired by the traditional Japanese aesthetics of wabi-sabi — accepting the imperfection and transience of things — Seet is set to display 18 new ceramic pieces. Perusing clay and applying wabi-sabi as a framework, the artworks are a testament to the blending of harsh and rough contours with a sense of simplicity and modesty. By allowing the natural forces of gravity and time to shape the clay while being deeply aware that limitation is necessary, he finds that the end product reveals “a far more compelling aesthetic truth”.

Join talented multi-instrumentalist Lim Wei Siong and accomplished music director Yuan Leow Yunn this weekend at DPAC. With 30 years of experience playing the erhu and pipa, Lim is a master at both stringed instruments. He draws inspiration from his travels abroad, its influence largely incorporated into his musical compositions. Journey features pieces such as Good Night (Liang Xiao), a contemplative piece on the brevity and appreciation of time, and Horse Racing (Sai Ma), the joy he felt while playing with a group of friends reflected in an upbeat tempo.
