Arts and culture professionals, funders and academics keen to connect and work with their counterparts in the UK and the region can find out more about collaboration pathways through a series of online forums which the British Council will present from Nov 22 to 27. Partner South East Asia aims to give participants a better understanding and knowledge of the arts and culture ecosystems of Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines,Thailand and Vietnam.
There will be country briefings and thematic sessions aimed at developing new connections between arts and culture practitioners and stakeholders in Southeast Asia and the UK. Participants can also better understand how the British Council is facilitating opportunities for this sector.

The four-day event will start by looking at the potential of Southeast Asia’s creative economy. Thematic sessions will also cover arts and inclusion and climate change and cultural rights, while showreels will highlight artistic pathways between the region and the UK. Another feature is a dedicated space for networking for future collaborations.
The country briefing session, titled Malaysia Now: Arts and Culture Mosaic, is on Nov 23 from 6.45pm to 8.15pm (local time). Speakers include playwright and researcher Dr Ann Lee; Christopher Allen, director and creative producer of The Light Surgeons; Izan Satrina Mohd Sallehuddin, founder of Cultural Economy Development Agency; Jo Kukathas, co-founder of Instant Cafe; Lee Jia Ping, founder of Pollin8; Ng Chor Guan, co-founder of Toccata Studio; and Jazreel Goh, country director of British Council in Malaysia.
