The word “high jewellery” is usually enough to elicit wistful sighs even from the most jaded of women. After all, very few individuals may consider themselves immune to the captivating qualities afforded by the coming together of show-stopping gemstones set in unprecedented designs by visionary master craftsmen. However, high jewellery creations from the august house of Bulgari have always been in a different league altogether.
It was a point the Roman jeweller loved proving — albeit most elegantly — over an intimate trunk show held recently at its boutique in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. A select group of guests were especially invited to view jaw-dropping pieces from the Cinemagia, Barocko and Magnifica collections up close over an afternoon fuelled by canapés and flutes of vintage Krug champagne. Kuala Lumpur was the first stop for the travelling trunk show, which then proceeded to Singapore, Thailand and Australia.
Rome, with its millennia-old history, has always been the preferred muse for Bulgari. And as always, each bejewelled creation remains an artistic paean to the grandeur and heritage of the ancient city, blending exquisite stones set in visionary designs — overseen by the maison’s legendary creative director Lucia Silvestri — that praise Italy’s artistic and architectural beauty through the timeless codes of luxury. Bellissima barely begins to describe it.
