Audemars Piguet presents a new limited-edition, 34mm Royal Oak Selfwinding in black ceramic, its latest collaboration with Italian jewellery designer Carolina Bucci.
In conjunction with Royal Oak’s 50th jubilee, the dial of this piece is made special with a multicoloured mirror effect, paying tribute to the memorable Tapisserie design. Suitable for men and women, this piece is available only in Audemars Piguet boutiques and AP Houses.
This is Bucci’s third collaborative timepiece with the Swiss manufacturer, and the designer uses a Frosted Gold hammering technique for a unique effect on the all-black ceramic dial.
While the dial might appear black at first, a closer look reveals an array of colours that brings out the Tapisserie effect — the little squares design that the brand is known for. A specially developed gold metallisation is also added to the back of the sapphire plate for a hypnotic mirror effect.
“I wanted to place a rainbow in the most unexpected of places, a little like when you see oil floating on a puddle in a city street. So, here you have every colour of the spectrum on a canvas that is completely black, which is itself the absence of colour,” says Bucci.
This limited-edition Royal Oak also comes with a presentation box designed by Bucci.
