There is a saying that, although life isn’t perfect, one’s jewellery can be. But a night recently hosted by Tiffany & Co in collaboration with The Edge was pretty close to perfection. The weather, cool and without a drop of rain, was surprisingly cooperative in a week punctuated by thunderstorms. The food, prepared by Andy Choy, the young talent behind acclaimed Damansara Heights dining room Chateau Dionne, was faultless, and the Tiffany & Co jewellery, it goes without saying, was flawless.
The evening at The Edge Galerie began with champagne. Bottle after opaque gold bottle of Armand de Brignac, nicknamed the Ace of Spades, were popped in profusion, delighting the guests who enjoyed the star-powered bubbly, which is partially owned by superstar Jay-Z (LVMH owns a 50% stake in the company). Together with his wife Beyoncé, Jay-Z also starred in a mega-campaign last year with the rare appearance of Jean-Michel Basquiat’s Equals Pi painting in the background.
The assembled guests would have noticed that all the night’s elements were also carefully chosen to evoke Tiffany’s grand “About Love” campaign. As fine jewellery and celebrity style were already represented, the element of art came through via the venue itself — a private gallery hung with treasures including Henri Matisse’s Cordages sur la plage d’Etretat; pieces by Malaysia’s very own artistic icon, Latiff Mohidin; and a majestic lion from The Animal Series by Ahmad Zakii Anwar.
But captivating though the displayed artworks were, it was the jewellery on display that was the undisputed star of the evening and included variations of Bird on a Rock, featuring amethysts, pink sapphires, aquamarines and tanzanite, as well as stunning marine-inspired designs by Jean Schlumberger. Also vying for attention were selected pieces from the Tiffany Lock collection, which were launched at the start of the year.

- Canapés of smoked salmon tartlets with nori cream, foie gras mousse with fig chutney on mini brioche and choux pastries with mozzarella cream

- Cold capellini with Hokkaido scallops, sea urchin, ikura and truffle ponzu
- Mushroom and artichoke velouté with truffle and parmesan
- Choice of baked cod with leeks, smoked potato espuma and caviar beurre blanc Or Australian wagyu oyster blade M5+ with legumes, potato soufflé and beef jus
- Ispahan (raspberry, rose and lychee gateau)
- Drinks included champagnes by Armand de Brignac, Veuve Clicquot, Terrazas Grand Malbec and Terrazas Reserva Chardonnay, all by Moët Hennessy Diageo
