In 2002, Porsche ignited the SUV market with the introduction of the Cayenne, a chilli pepper-inspired name fittingly chosen to capture the SUV’s fiery and dynamic character.
Porsche Malaysia, represented by Sime Darby Auto Performance, recently launched the new locally assembled Porsche Cayenne at The International Gallery at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club — the very place where prior Cayenne generations were revealed.
“Just months after making its global debut, the new locally assembled Cayenne arrives in Malaysia — underlining the importance of this market and the wider Asean region,” said Hannes Ruoff, CEO of Porsche Asia Pacific. “The new Cayenne features one of the most extensive product upgrades in the history of Porsche and with this enhanced specification made specifically for Malaysia, we hope to fulfil more sports car dreams for our customers and fans here.”
Sime Darby CEO Christopher Hunter said, “We are proud to launch the new locally assembled Cayenne, providing a range of enhanced standard features specifically catered to our customers in Malaysia. The Cayenne is one of the most popular luxury SUVs in the region, proving its credentials time and time again through strong customer demand.”
Since its introduction, the world’s first sports car for five has become an icon in its own right and solidified its place in the brand’s model line-up. The new vehicle includes an enhanced standard equipment package featuring adaptive cruise control, soft-close doors and the sport chrono package.
Additionally, the elevated standard equipment levels from the previous locally assembled Cayenne are retained. This includes the 14-way electric comfort seats with a memory package, Porsche crests embossed on the front seat headrests, four-zone climate control and electric roll-up sun blinds for the rear windows, all of which are standard on the new SUV.
Additional customisation options allow customers to choose from various wheel options, such as the 21-inch Cayenne exclusive design wheels and 22-inch sport design wheels as well as new Porsche Tequipment accessories geared towards lifestyle and leisure, such as rear seat entertainment. For off-road adventures, there are other accessories, including a roof tent, a performance roof box and rear bike carrier options.
Guests were also introduced to a talented individual discovered by Porsche Malaysia, Krithin Paul Pereira, a 22-year-old artist living with cerebral palsy. His artwork was showcased alongside his Without Limits merchandise, with proceeds going to Amirs Gym Therapy. Porsche recently flew Krithin, an illustrator and automotive student under the Sime Darby scholarship, to its design studio in Germany.
