In conjunction with Earth Day and its theme for this year, ‘Protect our Species’, Apple’s recent Shot on iPhone series titled Don’t Mess with Mother features nature clips from around the world.
The one-minute video was recorded on an iPhone XS and set to the fierce tune of Last Rites by heavy metal band Megadeth. It was commissioned to Camp4Collective, a filmmaking outfit co-owned by directors Renan Ozturk, Anson Fogel and Tim Kemple.
The beautiful scenes of wildlife and nature include clips of snow-capped mountains in North America, South Africa’s Namib desert, sharks from the Bahamas and a sandstorm in Australia. Apple also released a behind-the-scenes video of the making of Don't Mess with Mother through the eyes of the filmmakers.
"In some cases I think people when they see the footage will be just in disbelief that it was filmed on an iPhone."
The tech giant also celebrated Earth Day by releasing environmentally themed original stories and apps and games on the App Store, as well as Apple’s Earth Day Challenge, where Apple Watch users can earn a special award and stickers for Messages after completing a 30-minute workout.
