Launched just in time to ride the wave of patriotism and feel-good nostalgia ahead of Merdeka and Malaysia Day, In Perfect Harmony Too, Dama Asia’s new sequel to its 2021 hit In Perfect Harmony, Too closed to great success on Aug 13. Anchored by a podcaster, played by Alex Firdaus Koh, in a kopitiam setting that is inspired by popular chain Ali, Muthu & Ah Hock, the show at the Petaling Jaya Performing Arts Centre took guests through a 2½-hour-long medley of popular Malaysian songs as well as international hits that have impacted local consciousness.

Produced by the company’s long-standing creative heads Khor Seng Chew and Pun Kai Loon, and choreographed by Jojo Wong, the repertoire spanned 26 much-loved melodies in a variety of languages and dialects, including Sinaran by Sheila Majid, Jambatan Tamparuli by Justin Lusah, Friends by Alan Tam and Kau Ilhamku by Man Bai, all of which were chosen based on their popularity with the general Malaysian public in the last 60 years or so.

This marks the second time Dama Asia has anchored its production to a Malaysian musical journey theme. The Edge came on board once again as presenters, besides reaching out to its base of corporates to lend support to the performing arts, which suffered a tremendous battering during the pandemic.

Dama Asia will be getting ready to celebrate its 30th anniversary next year with a new and, no doubt, equally exciting musical theatre offering in May.
