It has been a long time since a premier hotel has opened in the capital, and what better way to get the city cognoscenti all excited over its shiniest new hotel than with an exclusive preview dinner? Tom Roelens, general manager of Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur, recently co-hosted a private dinner with Options, the luxury and lifestyle pullout of The Edge at Nobu to introduce his team and the new property to a select group of guests.
The dinner also gave the guests a first taste, literally, of what to expect from the celebrated luxury hotel brand. Executive chef Junious Dickerson oversaw and prepared the canapés for the evening as well as the first course of the dinner, which was complemented by exciting new cocktails by bar manager Derrick Yee, who was previously with the Four Seasons Resort Langkawi.
Guests were welcomed with their choice of cocktail, including the Trigona Old Fashioned, named after the hotel’s new bar, which takes its name from a type of native honey, or madu kelulut asli, which has an unusually sharp, citrusy taste. The guests enjoyed their cocktails as they watched a spectacular sunset as well as the ongoing work at the hotel (Nobu offers a superb vantage point from its private dining area).
Set to open in the middle of the year, Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur will boast 209 beautifully appointed rooms, a stunning grand ballroom that can accommodate 520 people and five restaurants and lounges including Chinese restaurant Yun House, all-day dining restaurant curATE, stylish cocktail bar Trigona and The Pool Bar & Grill— all housed in a brand new 65-storey building that will be the second tallest in the country after the iconic Petronas Twin Towers right next door. Roelens was, of course, peppered with questions on the exact opening date of the hotel by the excited guests, to which he coolly replied, “That’s the one thing everyone’s been asking and it’s a good question. But we are working towards May 1.”
Apart from the hotel, the tower will also include 242 Four Seasons private residences and 27 serviced apartments, making it the largest residential development ever undertaken by the brand, which, together with a six-floor luxury retail podium, will make up a new address collectively known as Four Seasons Place Kuala Lumpur.
As a sweet send-off, guests went home that evening with special vouchers for couples treatments at The Spa as well as afternoon tea for two once the hotel opens. We can hardly wait!
The Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur is slated to open mid-2018.
