The inaugural edition of Tee Off With The Edge took place on the greens of the Templer Park Country Club (TPCC) on Sept 5. The day began with registration and lunch at the clubhouse’s restaurant, followed by a quick briefing and photo session. Volvo Cars Malaysia had put its XC60 and S90 models on display for the participants to have a closer look before the game, which teed off around 1pm amid perfect weather. A total of 80 golfers competed for the chance to win great prizes, taking adequate breaks in-between holes at the Carlsberg drinks hut.
After the players freshened up at the end of the golf session, the VIP transport, in the form of Volvo’s XC60 and S90, transported them in style to a grand buffet dinner at Setia Eco Templer. Guests were also treated to an array of refreshments by Carlsberg. In his speech, The Edge publisher and group CEO Ho Kay Tat joked that he had called in a ‘weather consultant’ who ensured that any sign of gloomy skies or potential inclement weather were quickly dealt with.
Prizes for the competition and the lucky draw were generously sponsored by Panasonic, Braun Büffel and Carlsberg. The medal tally A champion, Eugene Goh, received a Braun Büffel Overnighter bag worth RM2,069 and one TPCC flight. Azrain, the medal tally B winner, won a Braun Büffel Duffel bag worth RM2,239 and one TPCC flight. Both nearest-to-the-line winners Imran Ismail (Hole 14) and Sunny Phang (Hole 5) won a Panasonic Air Purifier and a Braun Büffel Doctor’s bag each. Marc Jonathan Daniel, winner of the longest drive category, scored a Braun Büffel Overnighter bag.
Fun goody bags filled with T-shirts, shoe bags and caps were put together by Crestlink for participants to take home. Before the evening drew to a close, the lucky draw winners were announced, with exciting prizes of even more Panasonic products, Braun Büffel goodies, Carlsberg beer, One Championship tickets and TPCC flight tickets.
