Gaggan in Bangkok named Asia’s Best Restaurant 2025

The list celebrates culinary brilliance across 16 cities, welcoming seven new entries that highlight the region’s ever-evolving dining scene.

Bangkok’s culinary scene has once again taken centre stage, as Gaggan is crowned the Best Restaurant in Asia at the Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2025 awards. The prestigious list, revealed at a grand ceremony in Seoul, South Korea, celebrates the finest dining establishments across the continent, recognising innovation, excellence and sustainability.

The acclaimed restaurant, led by the visionary Chef Gaggan Anand, is celebrated for its progressive Indian cuisine, seamlessly blending influences from Japan, France and Thailand. At Gaggan, dining is a multi-sensory experience, where a 20-plus-course menu unfolds like a theatrical performance — featuring interactive elements, unexpected textures, and bold flavours that push culinary boundaries.

The 2025 list also highlights the diversity of the region’s gastronomic landscape, spanning 16 cities with seven new entries. Alongside Gaggan, other top-ranked restaurants include The Chairman (No.2) and Wing (No.3) in Hong Kong, and Sézanne (No.4) in Tokyo.

This year’s Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants showcases culinary excellence across 16 cities

"This year’s ranking presents a remarkable tapestry of dining establishments across 16 cities, with seven new entries showcasing the exceptional talent and innovative spirit that define Asia’s culinary landscape. Heartfelt congratulations to all the featured restaurants, particularly chef Gaggan Anand and his team at Gaggan, who have impressively secured the title of the Best Restaurant in Asia once again. Their commitment to culinary excellence and boundary-pushing gastronomy has firmly established them as a premier dining destination in the region," said William Drew, director of content at Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants. 

Bangkok and Tokyo led the rankings with nine entries each, solidifying their status as Asia’s culinary capitals. The list also saw exciting shifts, with Chef Tam’s Seasons in Macau (No.9) earning the Highest Climber Award, leaping an impressive 40 places. Meanwhile, Seoul’s Eatanic Garden (No.25) was named Highest New Entry, recognised for its nature-inspired, modern Korean cuisine.

Sustainability and innovation remained key themes this year, with Locavore NXT in Bali (No.92) receiving the Sustainable Restaurant Award. The restaurant, led by chefs Eelke Plasmeijer and Ray Adriansyah, is committed to hyper-local, seasonal, and sustainable dining, seamlessly integrating research with culinary artistry.
