Mums, a breed known to put their brood’s well-being above their own, do not always have time to relax as a result. Aware of that, Secret Recipe cajoled them to Cake It Easy! and indulge in some self-care while at it. To celebrate Mother’s Day this year, it brought out a gift set comprising a Secret Recipe Red Velvet bath bomb and Red Velvet-scented room mist, created in collaboration with Wunderbath.

This month, to mark its 27th anniversary, the home-grown F&B brand is telling women they can have their cake and “eat it”, with chocolate to boot. In another tie-up with Wunderbath, Secret Recipe is giving customers a limited-edition Chocolate Indulgence lip balm that has the same aroma and taste as its chocolate indulgence cake, a topseller.

The balm will have customers puckering up, then licking their lips as they savour its unique taste. It is formulated using plant-based ingredients by Wunderbath founder Evelyn Marieta, who combines her knowledge as a food scientist and a love for art to customise products that are kind to sensitive skin and make bath-time fun.

The gift-with-purchase is available at all its outlets in Peninsular Malaysia (except AEON Mall Taiping) and Sarawak, while stocks last. The promotion, valid for dine-in and takeaway orders, applies to all categories of sliced cakes, excluding brownies and chocolate lava.

The lip balm is not just a beauty treat as delicious as the hot cake it is named after. It is another effort by Secret Recipe to support other local brands, says head of marketing Evelyn Lee. “We’ve been big on that. Over the years, we’ve teamed up with some amazing local names in fashion and beauty.”

To celebrate Hari Raya Haji this year, the company partnered local fashion label Bayu Somerset to bring out a collection of baju kurung Kedah, baju kebaya, modern kurung, square scarf and scrunchie. It was a match of culture and culinary expertise as this festive range was decorated with patterns such as cakes, candles and whimsical flowers, showing how “fashion can embody the sweetness and joy of life”.

Taking tradition, or daily routines like caring for oneself, to another level brings joy. It’s nice to know you have a slice of indulgence in your bag and can whip it out any time you wish. So get the lip balm, spread it on and smile.
