Time flies when you are having fun. It is hard to believe that this issue of Haven is my 10th. Having first come on board in late 2016 and tasked with reworking the structure of the magazine, it has been quite a busy and eventful ride. From changing the magazine’s frequency from bi-monthly to quarterly as well as bringing in a slew of fresh talent — from artists and stylists to photographers — to work with us, all I can say is that this is a journey I am thoroughly enjoying.
As we march into the year, join us as we profile an eclectic assortment of homes. We were thrilled to be invited into a prominent corporate personality’s luxurious condominium. The décor was stunning, the artworks equally so. But chief of all the distractions, to me, were the three expansive walk-in wardrobes, of which we share a little glimpse in this issue. It is on Page 24.
And if you share many Malaysians’ obsession with the colourful, whimsical prints of Nala Designs, we hope you enjoy the profile on the home of its founder, the immensely talented Lisette Scheers whose unconventional home — an Old World bungalow in the heart of Bangsar’s increasingly gentrified Kemuja area — has benefited from her sharp eye and even sharper sense of style. Read about it on Page 40.
Writer Lakshmi Sekhar rediscovers the architectural sights and design-conscious delights of our very own capital city while further afield, we are bowled over by the latest property in the Maldives — we still cannot decide if it is more of a luxury beach resort or an interactive art gallery. Decide for yourself after reading about it on Page 60.
The Haven team also travelled far and wide to bring you a magpie’s assortment of home accessories that is just right for the season, from Easter-inspired touches to shades of green and a thumping spread on everything you need to enjoy the art of afternoon tea. Joining in the fun is our über-stylist Joanne Lim with a marvellous design spread that starts on Page 74. There is so much to see and be inspired by. We hope it starts for you right here in this issue.
