Size can intimidate or impress. The Rolls-Royce Phantom Series II, which arrived in Malaysia on Jan 25, does the latter and more. It combines design and luxury design heritage in a big way, but quietly, because a thing of beauty is best enjoyed without fanfare. There is no limit when it comes to personalised features in this eighth generation of the series, as what you want is what you get, even if your imagination soars to celestial levels.
Those who had the chance to jump into the Tempest Blue vehicle parked at Glasshouse at Seputeh, Kuala Lumpur, would have been amazed by how palpably quiet it feels inside once the doors are closed. Outside, a new polished horizontal line between the running lights above the Pantheon Grille gives the car a modern touch and makes the Spirit of Ecstasy mascot more prominent when viewed from the front.
Headlights with laser-cut bezel starlights connect visually with the Starlight Headliner within the cabin, while a thicker steering wheel provides “a more immediate point of contact for the owner-driver”. Individual taste is evident in bespoke features fashioned using hand-stitched leather, finely crafted wood and metal accents.
Cognisant that clients do not want major changes to the iconic car that stands for ultimate luxury, the brand has kept design touches and adaptations to a minimum while holding on to what should be preserved and protected.
The Phantom Series II starts at RM2.5 million while the Phantom Series II Extended is priced from RM2.9 million, both exclusive of taxes.
