The Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4MATIC SUV, the latest addition to the brand’s luxury all-electric EQ portfolio, is “the pinnacle among the eight model variants spanning across all vehicle segments”, says Mercedes-Benz Malaysia CEO and president Amanda Zhang. It seamlessly combines the features of the EQS with the adaptability of an SUV and its futuristic design harmoniously fuses emotion-evoking contours and meticulously crafted surfaces, she adds.
Seven passengers can sit comfortably, with ample legroom and head space, in this variant and enjoy Apple Music’s spatial audio with Dolby Atmos, described as “the nearest thing to a real live music experience” during the ride. Rev up the engine, switch to off-road mode and you can turn from a highway and tackle light terrain with ease.
Bettina Plangger, vice-president of sales and marketing at Mercedes-Benz Cars Malaysia and SEA II, says the EQS SUV “redefines luxury in the era of all-electric vehicles, taking excellence to new heights. With its striking aesthetics and cutting-edge technology, it is set to redefine luxury and innovation in this pivotal segment”.
The holistic design of the EQS SUV is based on a new vehicle architecture, resulting in a car equipped with dynamic proportions and innovative aesthetics. Modelled surfaces, reduced joints and seamless transitions enhance sensual purity while technologically pioneering and traditional materials and colours add to the avant-garde interior design.
Exterior mirrors sit on the vehicle’s shoulder for aerodynamic and aeroacoustic reasons. To reduce or prevent low-frequency noises — occupants in an electric car often notice wind noise more — numerous cavities in the body of this EQS SUV were filled with acoustically effective foam. Inside, a panoramic sunroof comprising two modules that together form a large glass surface ensures transparency and light.
