According to reports, over 70% of women-led companies worldwide are either unserved or underserved financially. They are less likely to borrow capital from banks to start, operate or expand businesses due to collateral or credit histories. This scenario eventually puts a restriction on their ability to make positive financial decisions that would have a direct impact on their well-being.
On The Rise, a community established in Malaysia to support female entrepreneurs is hosting its inaugural The Rise Summit to address the issue of financial empowerment, focusing on the subjects of finance and funding. As it aims to help people gain insights on financial confidence and the importance of networking, more than 10 business founders and industry leaders such as Izzana Saleh, Raja Teh, Freda Liu and Malisse Tan will be sharing their knowledge throughout five panel discussions, four keynotes sessions, two masterclasses and workshops.
“This isn't just a summit; it's a movement in which women support women,” says Kate Sarginson, founder of On The Rise. “Whether you're aiming to understand the intricacies of your money mindset, enhance personal financial literacy or seek strategies to grow and fund your business, our Rise Summit has been curated as a platform for women to gain valuable insights to level up their financial skills and business.”
There will also be a Funding Corner by investing and fundraising platform pitchIN for fund-seekers to personally engage with industry players, and marketplaces for attendees to discover new products and services to support their financial and business growth.
The Rise Summit has pledged to channel all proceeds from ticket sales to Women's Aid Organisation. The one-day event will be held at Asia School of Business Malaysia on May 16.
