“Every woman has a feline side and every flower has a hidden animal essence,” says Cartier perfumer Mathilde Laurent. That, in a sense, sums up the connection between the La Panthère and Vanessa Kirby, ambassador of the brand’s new perfume, watch and jewellery campaign.
Kirby joins the family with a film dedicated to the fragrance, in which the creature and Cartier move between abstraction and figuration, between the real and the supernatural, through the heart of a tropical forest. The British actress appears within this hidden land and, led by instinct, she transforms into her alter ego, a feline, a reflection of the predatory and protective sides of her personality.
Floral and feline make a powerful blend in La Panthère, created in 2014. Laurent, the nose behind the scent, envisioned a union of a historic chypre, a mythical animal musk and a fresh, vibrant gardenia.
Like the panther, Kirby is a free spirit who follows her own path. Drawn to the wild and untameable creature, she also epitomises its elegance and strength, characteristics one associates with Cartier fragrances.
