Dior has unveiled a new concept store in the upscale Ploenchit district in Bangkok. Named the Dior Gold House, the gilded outlet conceived by Luca Albero sits outside the Central Embassy mall and the Park Hyatt Bangkok hotel, glimmering amid lush surrounding gardens. A rotating lucky star, a classic motif for the maison, crowns the building. A tribute to monsieur Christian Dior’s passion for nature and fascination with art, the boutique’s exterior is also an ode to the 30 Avenue Montaigne flagship in Paris.
To mesh the label’s craftsmanship and elegance with the city’s vibrant energy and culture, local artisans — Korakot Aromdee, Wishulada Panthanuvong, Saran Yen Panya of 56th Studio, Rush Pleansuk and Philippe Moisan of Sumphat Gallery, Boonserm Premthada, Vassana Saima and Savin Saima of Vassana and Eggarat Wongcharit — were tapped to infuse the interior with Thai artistic flair. Bespoke furniture, elaborate wall pieces and exclusive installations, showcasing everything from bamboo filigree to handmade mosaics, offer visitors something new around every corner.
Of course, the outlet would be incomplete without its very own Café Dior to punctuate each visit with something sweet. Here, guests may indulge in fairytale desserts imagined by three Michelin-starred chef Mauro Colagreco as they admire the space’s delicate bamboo scenography depicting whimsical 3D foliage dotted with charming birds.
The star-studded opening on Dec 8 was graced by global brand ambassador Jisoo of K-pop group Blackpink, dressed in a black lace gown and gold-detailed belt with a Lady Dior in hand to match. Thai celebrities such as Tontawan “Tu” Tantivejakul, Nattawin “Apo” Wattanagitiphat and Kimberley Anne Woltemas were also in attendance, donning head-to-toe looks by the brand.
