Henry Jacques crafted bespoke fragrances for the world’s elite for decades before offering its collection for retail. In 2018, the maison opened its first stand-alone boutique in Singapore and has since branched out to a handful of distinguished locations around the world — its latest outpost being a 650sq ft boutique in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.
Inspired by the grandeur of historical Parisian apartments, the elegantly furnished boutique was designed by the maison’s artistic director, Christophe Tollemer. And in the name of uncompromised French craftsmanship, the boutique was conceived and assembled in France and then vacuum-packed, delivered and reassembled in KL. The atelier, furnished with contemporary designs and treasured antiques, houses an inner VIP area for consultation services. Here, clients can develop their own personal perfumes, discover their likes and dislikes and have the flacons tailored to their tastes.
Henry Jacques perfumes are mainly composed of premium natural essences gleaned from all over the world. With the rebirth of the Essences — the classical form of a Henry Jacques perfume — the maison is reintroducing the art of fine fragrances to the world. A few drops on the wrist and the scent will adhere to the skin for hours.
Present at the launch was Henry Jacques CEO Anne-Lise Cremona, the daughter of Henry Cremona, a voracious traveller who founded the French parfumerie. Anne-Lise shares her father’s inexhaustible passion for perfumes and is undoubtedly excited for the three-month old atelier in KL. When asked about the maison’s distinctive quality, she described the perfumes as non-invasive.
“The Henry Jacques fragrances are discreet. You don’t overwhelm a room when you enter. It’s a perfume that is designed only for you and the person you want to share it with,” explains Anne-Lise.
Anne-Lise was also in KL to introduce the latest Les Toupies chapter in the Henry Jacques Masterpieces series. The Les Toupies collection was developed as complementary pairs. Following Mr H and Mrs Y, the first couple of Les Toupies, the second and latest pair of Masterpieces, N°16 and N°81 represents a fresh avant-garde impulse. Though the perfumes are distinctive on its own, together, the scents fuse and create a multifaceted olfactory experience — perfect for couples. Also, travel-sized Les Toupies bottles are exclusively reserved for those who have purchased the full-sized bottle.
Having formed close relationships with some of the world’s foremost crystal-glass makers and jewellers, Henry Jacques has designed perfumes housed in intricately-designed flacons for a dramatic pairing of olfactive finesse and artistic beauty. Prices range from RM2,360 (15ml flacon) to RM33,570 (50ml flacon).
