Follow the trail of 007 or retrace the psychedelic movements of Austin Powers via British Airways’ “spy guide”. Drawing inspiration from the iconic and famous locations that have appeared in films such as Spectre, Kingsman, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and Johnny English, the airline lists the best spots to stop by in a bout of spy-inspired travelling.
First up is, of course, the UK, namely London’s Savile Row, where the well-dressed English gentleman goes for his bespoke suit. At 11 Savile Row is the gateway to the Kingsman’s headquarters. Rowan Atkinson’s bumbling antics as Johnny English can be relived at The Mall outside Buckingham Palace. Alternatively, daredevils can head out to Surrey to skydive, just as English did. Fans of Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin can head over to Rome, Italy, where the five-star Grand Plaza Hotel near the Spanish Steps was featured in the movie The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Also seen are the underground tunnels of the Fonderia Iron Works in picturesque Naples, along with the Baia Castle.
Bond fans can head over to Austria and Tangier in Morocco where the blockbuster Spectre was filmed. In Austria, make sure to stop by the Jadghause Seewiese restaurant at the north end of Lake Altaussee for its strudel, while in Morocco, make your way to the Dar Lidam restaurant with its panoramic view of Tangier. True movie buffs can take a trip to California, the US, where the antics of Austin Powers were captured in Paramount Studios, including the dance-off scene with Britney Spears and a kiss with Beyoncé in Goldmember.
