The watch that first embodied the “Grand Seiko Style” was the 1967 44GS. The nine principles that dictate this style have since guided the brand’s creations and afforded it a distinctive look. Celebrating a milestone date in this particular watch’s history, Grand Seiko has launched the 44GS 55th Anniversary Limited Edition.
It takes inspiration from the Shinshu mountains, which can be seen from the Grand Seiko Studio in Shinshu, with the backdrop of the full moon.
This 40mm anniversary watch has a deep-blue dial with a sunray pattern that catches the light the same way the moon sparkles against the night sky. Paired with a stainless steel case, it features minute and seconds hands — the latter in gold colour — shaped by hands with a gentle curve that enhances their legibility.
With a thickness of only 10.5mm, the watch has a rather slim profile and it sits comfortably on most wrists. Fitted with the manual-winding Spring Drive Calibre 9R31, the 44GS 55th Anniversary Limited Edition has a power reserve of 72 hours.
As a new addition to the Heritage Collection, it is limited to 1,500 pieces and available at Seiko boutiques and selected retail partners in Malaysia.
