Puah Kim Hai Solo Exhibition
Lingnan-style paintings emphasise life and nature, creating a Chinese art movement by integrating inspiration from the East and the West. Painters often use naturalism and apply oriental traditional naiveté and West European watercolour painting skills to make their artwork appear harmonious, clear and fresh. Puah Kim Hai has built a reputation as a Lingnan-style artist in Malaysia for his unique style of combining batik and ink painting. Puah majored in batik painting after graduating from the Malaysian Institute of Art in 1972, and refined his technique under the tutelage of Lingnan-style artist Yang Shanshen in Hong Kong during the 1980s.

Oriental Art & Cultural Centre, Hall 2, No 10 & 12, Third floor, Yayasan Elken, Jalan 1/137C, Batu 5, Jalan Klang Lama, KL. Until Oct 26. For more info, see here.
