If you haven’t read the news already, a new Banksy work honouring health workers was placed on display in a corridor at Southampton General Hospital in southern England. Titled Game Changer, it depicts a young boy siting on the floor playing with a nurse superhero toy while Batman and Spiderman action figures lie in a wastepaper basket next to him.
Health officials have expressed the gesture as a “massive boost of morale” for everyone at the hospital, which has seen at least two members of staff die after contracting the new coronavirus.
Banksy’s contribution is not only gaining attention among health workers — the elusive street artist (or artists) joined a roster of big names such as George Condo, Kaws, Damien Hirst and Jeff Koons in an virtual exhibition by Artcels — a digital art investment platform based in London — in partnership with HOFA Gallery.
Dubbed XXI, the show taking place from May 4 to May 18 will highlight the artists’ works in a three-dimensional, high-definition format that is immersive, interactive and realistic. If you’ve always wanted to get up close to Jeff Koon’s Red Rabbit, or Blame Game, a portfolio of 10 prints by Kaws, here’s your chance.
Elio D’Anna, co-founder of Artcels said, “It’s the very first time an art portfolio of this calibre has ever been presented as a virtual exhibition, and we’ve used the latest capturing and rendering technology, guaranteeing a true-to-life experience. During this difficult time, we are hoping this exhibition will bring some relief to those in isolation and be a bright spot to all art lovers across the globe.”
Artcels parcels blue-chip contemporary art into shares worth a minimum of £390 (RM2,092) determined through proven quantitative strategies for art asset acquisitions and made available exclusively to subscribers.
XXI will also offer viewers the opportunity to invest in the carefully curated art portfolio. See a preview of the exhibition below:
