Pierre Balmain once demonstrated his vehemence for incorporating architectural elements into his designs. “Dressmaking is the architecture of movement,” he said. Architecture and fashion are often intertwined because both serve as an evergreen source of inspiration for each other. So it’s not surprising for boutique developer BÖN Estates, which prides itself on building astutely designed homes and curating a better way of life, to host a fashion charity event – dubbed ‘Couture Craft’ – at the BÖN Estates Gallery in Bangsar in conjunction with the Raya season.
Championing the spirit of innovation, artistry and craftsmanship, BÖN Estates has shortlisted four noteworthy names to be featured in this glitzy event. Leading designers Bon Zainal, Leslie Variyan, Putra Aziz and Syomir Izwa Gupta will be showcasing their latest creations, which are up for bidding to raise funds for charity.
Embracing a flair for modernity, Bon Zainal is famous for his made-to-measure line of designer menswear. Leslie Variyan includes comfort and versatility in his intricate wedding pieces and ready-to-wear womenswear. Accountant-turned-fashion-entrepreneur Putra Aziz on the other hand is synonymous with his brand Cosry, which has enjoyed a universal appeal through craftsmanship for empowered women of all status. Last but not least, Syomir Izwa Gupta’s innovative use of colours and simple forms have found their way to A-list entertainers and high-profile international events.
BÖN Estates’ enthusiasm for cultural festivities is deeply rooted in its understanding of how these occasions bring people together in the spirit of unity.
“As a developer, we aspire to harness the same values that inspire the world of fashion into the living space, because we believe life itself is an art and opportunities to embrace lifestyle choices should be well-crafted, said managing director Goh Soo Sing.
To spread the spirit of giving during the festive season, BÖN Estates will be channelling all proceeds from the Couture Craft to selected charities, including contributions to scholarship funds and vocational schools for arts and crafts. This fashion charity will serve as a launchpad for the ensuing Buka Puasa event on June 1 where a boutique pop-up bazaar will take place.
