Breast cancer is known to be the leading cancer that affects women in Malaysia, and studies have shown that one in 19 women will develop this disease in their lifetime. With October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we’ve pulled together a list of activities you can participate to raise funds for the Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia (BCWA) and National Cancer Society of Malaysia. Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur
Specially curated by chef de patisserie Adrian Gan, Shangri-La’s Pink Afternoon Tea — served at the Lobby Lounge — benefits the Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia (BCWA). On the savoury side, dine on unusual treats like charcoal foccacia with smoked salmon, choux puff with cocktail shrimps and poached salmon with beetroot, corn and ikura. In delicate finger sandwiches, find delicious fillings like bresaola, and cucumber cream cheese. The list of sweet treats looks decadent too: Expect heart-shaped praline, passionfruit and cream cheese macarons, strawberry and vanilla tartlets, chocolate eclairs, raspberry and coconut opera, and a pretty pink lipstick praline and dark chocolate ganache.
For something more substantial, there are fluffy cranberry and butter scones served with mascarpone cream and homemade jams. In a small drawer on the tea stand, pick from a variety of cookies and chocolates on offer. Shangri-La’s famous Kuala Lumpur Chocolate Tower also makes an appearance — a delectable tribute to one of KL’s most famous landmarks. Additionally, the hotel has collaborated with renowned local fashion accessory brand, Bowerhaus, to design a limited edition Pink Brooch for guests.

Teaming up with Malaysia Breast Cancer Foundation, Majestic Hotel KL will channel all proceeds from the sale of The Majestic Orchids to the foundation. The flowers, priced from RM80 each, can be purchased at the conservatory.

Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur
What’s fashionable these days? Knowledge. And the collaboration between Mandarin Oriental’s executive pastry chef Antony Hoyle and local wedding gown designer Celest Thoi in conjunction with breast cancer awareness does exactly that: Empowering women with sufficient education on breast health care. The hotel has crafted a special afternoon tea brimming with pink delicacies, from dainty pastries such as pink frosted doughnuts, lychee and vanilla macarons, as well as white chocolate chiffon sponge roll, to a variety of finger sandwiches. The treats will be embellished with motifs and patterns of Thoi’s creations.
Guests will also stand a chance to win the Inner Strength spa treatment for two when they submit a creative photo of anything pink on their Instagram with the hashtag #PinkAfternoonTeabyMO.

Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur
If there's one thing we love more than dining in KL, it's dining for a cause. The Lobby Lounge at Four Seasons has introduced a high-tea set, complete with petite pastries (rose macaron, dark chocolate Religieuse, pink pepper and strawberry tarte, cranberry scones, etc) and savouries that include chicken salad, smoked duck hash and cured Kinglas salmon. For all purchases exceeding RM135 on a single receipt, Four Seasons will donate RM10 towards the National Cancer Society of Malaysia.
