For the sixth year in a row, the British Council in Malaysia is offering Connections Through Culture arts grants, a RM4.2 million grant programme that promotes collaborations between artists, cultural professionals and organisations from the UK and Malaysia. Applicants are eligible to receive up to RM60,000 for their cultural projects.

“These grants can spark big ideas and major collaborations. We’re proud to be providing this support, keeping the doors open for artists in both countries to make connections and showcase their talents on the international stage,” explains Jazreel Goh, British Council’s country director Malaysia. The programme has also been launched in other Southeast Asian countries, including Thailand, Myanmar, Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines.

The initiative is a fantastic chance for diverse cultural expression and exchange, and recipients are guaranteed ample advice and opportunities for professional development.

This year, the British Council is prioritising proposals related to diversity and inclusion as well as climate change. Projects are required to have at least one UK- and one Malaysia-based applicant, and may be at any stage of development across art forms.
