Dom Pérignon recently introduced its new Chef de Cave, Vincent Chaperon, who will succeed Richard Geoffroy in January next year. The passing of the torch to Chaperon coincides with the declaration of Dom Pérignon Vintage 2008, a compelling milestone in the history of the vintage champagne house, embodying its living heritage. The 2008, a paradoxical new classic, reflects the duo’s mutual understanding, combining Geoffroy’s sophisticated and comprehensive knowledge with Chaperon’s audacious intuition.
Geoffroy — who declared no fewer than 15 vintages between 1990 and 2009 — is known for constantly taking risks throughout the elaboration process and pushing the fruit to its ultimate maturity, thus allowing him to honour the brand’s commitment to being “always a vintage wine”. Throughout the years, he has seen brand collaborations with global culinary luminaries such as Alain Ducasse, Ferran Adrià and Jean-François Piège as well as artistes including David Lynch, Jeff Koons, Lang Lang and Lenny Kravitz.
Chaperon, who has worked alongside Geoffroy since 2005, has taken part in 13 harvests and declared four vintages — the 2005, 2006, 2009 and 2018. He brings to the Dom Pérignon project his winemaker’s sensitivity and commitment to progress.
