In an era where man-made consequences on the environment are increasingly scrutinised, it is in the unmistakable prowess of an esteemed watchmaker like Grand Seiko that we are reminded technological innovation and Mother Earth’s beauty can be perfectly partnered. Channelling this synergy, the maison has collaborated with Sincere Fine Watches to unveil its Nature of Time exhibition at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, an immersive event that brings the harmony of nature and horological precision to watch aficionados and collectors while celebrating the 20th anniversary of the iconic 9R Spring Drive calibre.
Framed in projections of lush forests that play on light and shadow and ambient sounds of rustling leaves, the timepieces are presented in a showcase based on the natural landscapes of Japan, allowing visitors to peruse the intricacies of watchmaking artistry situated within the tranquillity of the organic world.
An installation that evokes the shade and texture of birch trees spotlights the manually wound Evolution 9 dress watch SLGW003 from the collection, proudly conveying the maker’s masterful blending of cutting-edge technology with distinctly Japanese aesthetics through the nature-themed textured dials. Enthusiasts can also look forward to the exquisite SBGJ285, an Asia-Pacific exclusive edition inspired by the wisteria flower.
Accompanying this resplendent exhibit, guests can reserve their spot to enjoy a pre-launch tasting menu curated by Michelin-starred Kinobu from Kyoto. Using freshly flown in seasonal ingredients, this experience allows you to fully delve into the unparalleled commitment of Japanese craftsmanship in both the culinary and horological domains. The Nature of Time exhibition is open to the public until Jan 2, 2025. Interested parties can register for the discovery tour and chef’s table here.
