How do you stay true to the aesthetic purity of a timepiece and yet do something new and contemporary? That was the challenge Parmigiani Fleurier faced with its Tonda PF Automatic in two-tone rose gold and steel.
Keeping a firm hand on its signature design language, the Swiss watch manufacturer known for its superb finishing used rose gold to highlight certain architectural elements of the Tonda PF’s case and bracelet. It recreated the watch’s finely knurled bezel in that metal and accentuated its tapering profile with a supple integrated bracelet featuring rose gold links.
Last year, Parmigiani released the Tonda PF Automatic in two-tone steel and gold and in rose gold with a deep ruby dial. The two models, which come in a compact 36mm case, play on contrasting colours and precious gems. They target more slender wrists even as they mirror the aesthetics and technical prowess of the larger 40mm variant.
The new unisex diameter enhances the refined elegance of both watches, which were released last year. The rose gold model with diamond indices variant won the Women’s Watch Prize at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève in 2022.
The Tonda PF Automatic 36mm in two-tone steel and gold with sanded grey dial retails at RM124,740, while that in rose gold and ruby-colour alligator strap with deep ruby dial is priced at RM192,310. Both are available at Sincere Haute Horlogerie at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. For more information, visit parmigiani.com.
