Now that the Thai border is reopening to Malaysian tourists, make the W Bangkok your first port of call. The hotel chain has introduced the Extraordinary Suite Experience, which is the result of a partnership with Australian winery Penfolds.
As part of a year-long collaboration, Penfolds has taken over W Bangkok’s iconic Studio Suite and dressed it up in the winery’s iconic plush red, immersing guests in the Penfolds luxury experience.
Naturally, the Penfolds Suite comes with a well-stocked Max bar, named in honour of pioneering Asutralian winemaker and creator of the Grange, Max Schubert. The bar might be the very first thing that guests see as they enter the suite as it is styled in neon lights and covers a large section of the main display wall.
Within, find a pair of Penfolds Max’s Cabernet Sauvignon and a Chardonnay, and the premium tier Bin 23 Pinot Noir and St Henri Shiraz together with a range of red-stemmed wine glasses and an electric bottle opener. No harm in getting to those bottles a wee bit faster, we say.
And because good wine goes with good food, the experience extends to afternoon tea and dinner, which can be enjoyed inside the room as well. The menus draw inspiration from Penfolds’ evolution of winemaking, venturing beyond the usual wine-pairing rules to include Asian flavours such as Mekhong BBQ sauce and Korean gochujang.
The Penfolds Suite is available until Dec 31, starting from THB5,999++ per night inclusive of breakfast for two and a bottle of Penfolds Bin 2. Culinary add-ons will be charged separately. Visit wbangkok.com for more information.
