When it comes to haute horlogerie that pushes boundaries, few maisons do it quite the way Franck Muller can. And so, in honour of Sincere Fine Watches’ 70th anniversary, the Swiss manufacture has unveiled a special wonder — the Vanguard Damascus Steel Sincere Platinum Jubilee Edition — limited to just 28 pieces.

Crafted from the namesake material, the timepiece marks the watchmaker’s foray into the domain of metallurgy. Using a high-quality alloy of two austenitic, non-magnetic stainless steels, it promises exceptional durability, strength and resistance to corrosion. Thanks to the material’s unique composition, which is achieved through a patented process, impurities are eliminated, allowing the movement to run more efficiently.

The choice to incorporate two alloys was also a symbolic decision, referencing the lasting bond between Sincere Fine Watches and Franck Muller that stems back to the maison’s establishment in 1991.

To further accentuate each piece’s novelty, a one-of-a-kind striated pattern adorns every watch, revealed through Franck Muller’s in-house acid bath technique that demonstrates the brand’s technological prowess. A meticulous polishing process was also required to preserve the distinctive look of the Damascus steel parts, evidence of a commitment to detail and excellence.

Through the openwork case, the calibre MVT FM 1740-VS2 ticks away, its skeletonised form complete with a network of steel bridges demanding closer inspection. Operating at 2.5Hz and boasting a seven-day power reserve, the movement’s mainplate, bridges and regulator assembly are finished with precise beveling. To perfect the fine details, diamond polishing completes the sinks and circular satin brushing adorns the wheels.

Framed by a rose gold flange, the inner mechanisms are fitted with pink gold hour, minute and second hands. Side inserts and a crown cap in the same metal tone complement the piece, while a white sapphire seconds counter sits at 6 o’clock.

Worn on a black alligator strap with rose gold-toned stitching, the watch is the epitome of modernity and innovation, as well as an example of the magnificent possibilities when retailer and watchmaker join hands.
