In time for a global celebration of our oceans, in conjunction with World Oceans Day next month, Panerai’s Submersible Mike Horn Edition — created for its most courageous ambassador of 15 years, explorer Mike Horn — reaffirms the brand’s commitment to making a difference in safeguarding our planet’s blue waters.
Tough, strong and reliable, the professional diving watch, issued in a limited edition of 19 pieces, is not only suitable to wear during the most challenging enterprises, it is made using a compendium of innovative methods that involve the recycling of resources to protect our planet and its waters, down to the packaging made from recycled material.
The device protecting the winding crown, the bezel and the back of the timepiece — engraved with Horn’s signature and an image inspired by sea creatures — and the 47mm case are made of EcoTitanium, a material obtained not from the exploitation of natural resources but from recycled titanium. Its black strap is also made of a material obtained from recycled PET and designed to minimise environmental impact.
In addition, the Panerai manufacture in Neuchâtel, where the Submersible Mike Horn Edition was crafted, operates in compliance with the strictest international environmental standards. It is designed to reduce carbon dioxide emissions to zero and is equipped with state-of-the-art energy-saving devices and equipment for recovering and reusing waste materials.
