Timothée Chalamet is quickly becoming one of the hottest young actors and Cartier has taken notice. The “jeweller of kings”, as the luxury maison is known, recently announced that the 25-year-old American would be its newest Friend of the House, joining the likes of filmmaker and actress Sofia Coppola, and Italian actress and model Monica Bellucci.

The announcement was made at the highly anticipated premiere of Dune, in which Chalamet stars, at the Venice International Film Festival. Cartier sponsors the festival.

Chalamet is a red-carpet favourite because of his incredible sartorial sense and often tops best-dressed lists. The 2020 Oscars saw him wearing a vintage 1950s Cartier Tradition brooch crafted from white gold and platinum with rubies and diamonds.

He is also rapidly rising through the ranks of in-demand talents, with blockbusters such as Interstellar, Call Me By Your Name, Little Women and Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch under his belt. In Dune, he plays protagonist Paul Atreides, who has to travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and people. His performances have earned him several BAFTA, Academy Awards, Golden Globe Awards and Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations, and Dune is poised to add to that list.

“We are delighted to continue our longstanding relationship with Timothée by having him officially join the maison as a Friend of the House,” says Cartier International’s chief marketing officer Arnaud Carrez. “As a man of passion, independence, open-mindedness and creativity, Timothée’s bold approach to life —conveyed through his professional choices and his free-spirited style — is intrinsically aligned with Cartier’s core values.”

Chalamet’s star is set to continue rising as he prepares to play music legend Bob Dylan in upcoming biopic Going Electric under the direction of James Mangold. With Cartier inviting him into its intimate circle of friends, it looks like we will be seeing the stylish young actor don more of the brand’s exquisite treasures on some of the most iconic red carpets in the world.
