Located in the heart of Bangsar, A Place Where (APW) is a former printing factory turned contemporary cultural hub. Home to a community of coffee shops, restaurants and boutiques, this creative campus recently welcomed a new addition: Coach Play APW.

A second for Malaysia (the first was launched in Ipoh earlier this year), the outlet boasts a warm and colourful atmosphere meant to evoke the label’s playful spirit and New York roots. Around the 3,280 sq ft space, visitors may peruse vintage Coach advertisements, hang tags and leathercraft decorations that commemorate the brand’s origins as a producer of leather goods. Rexy, the dinosaur mascot, is another signature design element that can be spotted in the concept store.

Some of its highlights include the Tabby Shop, where the house’s modern icon is the star of the show. Neon light installations line the walls behind rows of the latest Tabby collections. Nearby, an interactive screen-printing machine, the first of its kind in any Coach Play store in the world, offers customers the chance to select one of 10 designs in four colourways to be imagined on a tote bag or T-shirt.

The brand introduces Coachtopia in Malaysia for the very first time

Meanwhile, at the Coach Create Bar, a complimentary monogram service allows hang tags to be personalised with a range of emojis, various lettering choices and foil hues. For more embellishments, an array of pins is available for purchase.

Visitors looking to dive further into the archives of APW and Coach may do so at the Archive Room, where local stamps and graphics from The Royal Press Museum in Melaka are displayed alongside Coach codes, tools, hardware and archival imagery.

Coachtopia, the label’s lab for innovation and circular craft, also makes its Malaysian debut at the APW store, inviting all to discover the house’s commitment to recycling, repurposing and renewing.

While here, shoppers must swing by the Coach Coffee Shop, the largest of its kind. Capable of comfortably accommodating up to 60 pax, the café offers speciality coffee and Americana-inspired breakfast treats and sweets. Must-try items comprise the Pastrami Sandwich on rye bread and Ricotta Toast drizzled with honey and sea salt, guaranteed to help you refuel after a long day of shopping and browsing.
