Once the bustling epicentre of Kuala Lumpur’s vibrant textile trade, Semua House has been rejuvenated as a hub for independent businesses. The iconic landmark established in 1986 off Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman is a homecoming of sorts for numerous Malaysian brands, which are making a poignant return to where they marked their debut and success. Among them is Penang-founded jeweller Habib.
The mall and the Masjid India enclave have played a pivotal role in shaping Habib’s history chiefly because of the company’s strong bond with the community, which has long associated the brand with exquisite craftsmanship and timeless offerings. The newly opened showroom, which symbolises a fresh chapter in the jeweller’s legacy, is now located directly above the main staircase, boasting a raw and natural-looking space accentuated with neutral-coloured carpets, cement floor tiles and upholstery finished with hints of nickel metal and natural quartz stone features.
Juxtaposing the stucco accent wall in Habib’s signature deep magenta shade is a textured concrete façade that lends understated elegance. Moreover, a warm palette of beige and brown serves as a calming backdrop for the brand’s gilded wares. A custom-made console table stands out as the showroom’s décor piece, alongside a consultation desk made of quartz stone and curved fluted panels.
“As a multigenerational brand, we are excited to see Semua House thrive with its fresh, rejuvenated spirit. [It] not only connects us with old customers who have fond memories with us here but also with young people who will hang out in this cool, trendy spot. We can’t wait to provide customers ‘The Gift of Happiness’ in this new space that truly resonates with our 66-year journey,” says group executive chairman Datuk Seri Meer Habib.
